C&C Laboratories
C&C
Oil Laboratories has in house oil analysis capabilities.
The testing and evaluation includes: oil viscosity by constant
temperature bath, viscosity’s are determined at 40°C
and 100°C in centistokes, water detection, demulsibility
evaluation, and compatibility evaluation. C&C also incorporates
the use of our Fourier Transformed Infrared Spectrometer. This
unit provides C&C with the diagnostic capabilities to identify
a lubricant, an additive or a contaminate. The identification
process is further enhanced by detecting variation in a used
lubricant versus a new lubricant. This can also be used to identify
quality and quantity of individual components in a lubricant.
Spectrochemical oil analysis is provided
by an independent, third party corporation, for an unbiased
appraisal of the lubricant’s condition. The twenty-element
chemical analysis includes: Total Solids, water percent by
volume, Viscosity at 40°C,
Total Acid or Total Base Number, ISO- Particle count, Evaluation
Comments, Self Addressed Mailer, Sample Form, and Sample Bottle.
The results of each sample are formatted for retrieval via
the web and critical equipment condition are faxed or e-mailed
directly to you. This reduces paper work and increases the
response time to you.
Optional services performed are Direct
Reading particle counts, ISO fluid cleanliness codes, and
Analytical Ferrograms.
Analytical Ferrograms requires an oil
sample from the unit in question and subjects the oil and
particles to a solvent wash as it is being passed over a magnetized
plate to separate the metal particles from one another. Then
the particles are viewed under a microscope to determine the
type of wear and the components involved. This is an excellent
root cause failure procedure.
When you utilize the combination of
our in house services and the independent spectrochemical
analysis you have the full picture to make informed decisions.
A C&C Company representative reviews each sample submitted
to the oil analysis lab to provide additional insight of the
results for you. If C&C determines additional information
would be of assistance to the plant’s predictive maintenance
team, then a phone call or message is relayed to the plant.
C&C also contracts with an
independent metallurgical and failure analysis company to
provide in-depth root cause failure analysis. This is performed
on an as needed basis and the costs are submitted to the plant
prior to the evaluation.
